The Grand Experiment, and Our Place In It…

Some time ago, a group of long haired, hard drinking, cussing, militant radical revolutionaries had them an insurgency. These madmen set about to overthrow the government of their country and remove from their true and rightful ruler the power he exerted over them! The primary technique they used in this endeavor involved guns, lots of guns. They had them an armed insurrection. They also used terrorism. One particular and well documented terrorist act included the wanton destruction of private property. A short time after this act of vandalism the leadership of these violent thugs proved themselves to be completely out of touch with main stream political, economic, and religious thought by producing, signing and releasing for publication a document I will now quote in part:

“WHEN in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation.”

“WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed…”

Well, I’m sure those words put hot pepper in the Preparation-H of the tyrant of that time. I’m quite sure that the mass media of that time were quick to dismiss the document I quote above as inflammatory rhetoric quite outside the bounds of civilized debate. After all, back then king george was “the decider” and “a commander guy.” He had the lords and ladies of his royal court who represented and in fact were like king george himself the moneyed interests, on his side. He needed no “consent” from these commoners. How dare this group of radical fundamentalist enlightenment scholars invoke the name of god! It was god that made george the king, RIGHT?

On the off chance that anyone reading this hasn’t figured out of when and whom I speak. The date affixed to the fatwa I quote above is July 4, 1776. The terrorist act was the Boston tea party.

Of all the rights and responsibilities our founding fathers granted and tasked us with. Giving, withholding and even WITHDRAWING our consent from OUR GOVERNMENT is the most POWERFUL and IMPORTANT! This is where our place in the grand experiment called democracy sits.

Sadly, even when We The People withdraw our consent, as we clearly did in the November 2006 election. The ruling class of ,by, and for the moneyed interests, are as ever loathe to allow we commoners to interfere with their god given right to rule.

along with his lords and ladies in the house and senate are now “negotiating” legislation pertaining to the war in Iraq. Are they trying to find a reasonable withdrawal date? Nope. Instead, they are negotiating what can be SAID in a bill, whose primary purpose for existing is to grant over 100 BILLION more of OUR tax dollars to CONTINUE THE FAILED WAR IN IRAQ! The bill g’dubya vetoed would not have ended the war. Only cutting the funding will do that. When the next bill continues to fund the war, and it will, I hope this puts to bed the nonsense that ANYONE in washingtOOn is ready to DO what is necessary to end the war. They ALL intend to fiddle with WORDS while Iraq, and with it our democracy, BURNS TO ASHES.

WTF?! We The People have WITHDRAWN OUR CONSENT, in the November 2006 elections and in subsequent opinion polls, from our government concerning this disaster of a war. WE WANT OUT NOW! We can’t be any clearer. It isn’t that the ruling class in washingtOOn doesn’t hear and understand us. It’s that they don’t take our consent or lack thereof seriously. This is one of the things that is broken in our political economy. What weakens the power of We The People is the ability of the ruling class to defend themselves against our displeasure and withdrawal of consent.

In my last blog I said I would write about how we can make our government SUCCEED. This blog explains one of the keys. Our consent. In order to make our political economy a success, we must find ways to tear down the wall the power elite has built around themselves. We must make OUR consent or lack thereof the most important criteria for the wellbeing of our elected officials. As it stands the ruling elite are far too well protected from us. In order to know how to break down their wall, we must examine their defenses. A large portion of their wall is made of nothing more then bullshit. There is a huge bullshit industry, owned and operated by bullshit industrialists that make billions and billions of dollars from the production and delivery of bullshit. This bullshit is produced at bullshit factories. I hope you will join me for a little tour of their bullshit factory. The tour starts when I post my next blog…

    I came to your blog after reading your letter to the Operation Democracy (MoveOn) group. I pretty much agree with your perspective, and appreciate your style, but by leaving MoveOn and moving so far towards the looney left (like Thomas Jefferson) you reduce your potential impact, don’t you think? I’ve been going door to door in Trumansburg petitioning for an impeachment resolution from the village board. If I spoke like you write, not to mention the dreadlocks, I wouldn’t get as many signatures. We have to play the hand we’ve been dealt. Politics is all about pragmatism.

Build a nerdvana library of the results so the secont they get stepped out of line its the artists turn to glue posters picking on what they did. But to suppress anti mob troups cameras rolling transmitting to servers around the world is important.
