Wake up Neo!
For as long as I can remember “peace through strength” has been the rant of idiots of all kinds. Of late (pre-Iraq war), it was the rant of the neo-con-artists. I never bought into this bullshit. It was just a way to continue the out of control military spending the ruling and economic elite enrich themselves with at our expense.
Since WW2 our country has been spending billions and billions of our tax dollars to build and field abroad the most powerful military in history. Yet, as I write this, we are again at war and have been for over 4 years.
Resolved: The highest rate of military spending in history does not lead to peace, but to WAR!
That we have been out spending every other nation on earth and still do not have peace proves this.
One would think that with all the ranting and raving the bush crime family has done regarding WMD in Iraq and Iran’s nuclear program, the US is somehow without sin and has enough moral standing in the world to point the finger of blame at others. The fact is that the US has the most advanced and largest stockpile of WMD in the world. The US government also continues to spend billions of our tax dollars for ongoing “modernization” of this WMD stockpile. The US is also the only country in history to actually use WMD. The two A-bombs dropped on Japan prove we are have in past been willing as a nation to use WMD against those that don’t have them. No wonder other countries are seeking to build their own! The only way to reduce the incentive for other countries to jump into or escalate the arms race, is to make reductions to ALL WMD stockpiles, including our own, a priority for our government. Instead of trying to deescalate the WMD arms race, the bush crime family escalated it via their recent braking of the ABM treaty with Russia. This new arms race is gonna cost us plenty and even after spending billions of our tax dollars on an ABM system, the damn thing doesn’t work! In tests preformed by the US military, the system misses the target again and again. In a military procurement system famous for pork barrel spending and boondoggles , the money we are now wasting to build an ABM system that doesn’t work proves yet again that military intelligence is an an oxymoron!
The real sin to all this money being wasted on the military is what we could be spending this money on instead. The idiots in washingtOOn and elsewhere are quick to scream “it would be too expensive!” whenever a national health care plan is even mentioned. We are told we don’t have money in the budget to retrofit our government buildings to reduce their energy consumption. We have little if any spending on renewable energy sources to gain for our country energy security. The only time money “is no object” in washingtOOn is when the military budget is funded!
Now it’s time to play LETS FOLLOW THE MONEY in my next (cha-ching) post…
