To take action against continuing war funding!

The two parties of the apocalypse are gearing up their bullshit machines. The date for the report from the “generals on the ground” has arrived. This from The New York Times:

Delay Decision on Major Cuts, General Says

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 — The top American commander in Iraq, Gen. David H. Petraeus, has recommended that decisions on the contentious issue of reducing the main body of the American troops in Iraq be put off for six months, American officials said Sunday.

General Petraeus, whose long-awaited testimony before Congress is to begin today at about 12:30 p.m. Eastern time, has informed President Bush that troop cuts may begin in mid-December, with the withdrawal of one of the 20 American combat brigades in Iraq, about 4,000 troops. By August 2008, the American force in Iraq would be down to 15 combat brigades, the force level before Mr. Bush’s troop reinforcement plan.

Gee, what a surprise. Let me translate: The failed war shall continue without change. The dems won’t stop it. The repubs won’t stop it. More tax dollars will be spent to kill people and blow things up. The federal deficit and national debt will continue to rise. More people will suffer death and injury. More tax dollars will be spent, etc; etc.

Petraeus says U.S. troop levels can be cut

By Arshad Mohammed and Susan Cornwell Sept. 10, 2007

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The top U.S. commander in Iraq on Monday said the number of U.S. troops in Iraq could be cut by next summer to roughly 130,000, its level before this year’s “surge” of 30,000 forces, without jeopardizing security improvements. Speaking to a congressional hearing on a war that has killed more than 3,700 U.S. troops and tens of thousands of Iraqis, Gen. David Petraeus also strongly endorsed U.S. President George W. Bush’s decision to add forces this year.

This is the latest stalling tactic. In the first article I quoted petreaus said “six months.” In the second artice he said that some troops will come home next summer. That means at least another year of the failed war. This is not acceptable to me. What do you think?

Here’s the real truth about the war:

War Cometh Before A Fall

Alternative Insight

War has economic roots; no matter how it is made to appear. Define it as spreading freedom, fighting terrorism or protecting citizens, the driving force for war is to gain economic advantage. Protecting markets, acquiring new markets, crushing competition, defeating those who impede expansion, and controlling resources are the usual causes of war that involve industrialized nations. As an example, Al-Qaeda is a definite threat and must be countered. This valid concern conveniently allows the war on terrorism to be used as an excuse for other battles. Nigel H. Maund, in an article, “The Epic Struggle for World Hegemony,” is more direct. Maund forcibly claims: “The War on Terror is nothing other than a massive, albeit obviously transparent, smokescreen for the real war: the war for resources and the economic survival of the United States as a global power.”

  2. BTW-Great Orwell graphic. I have heard the turn of the 19th century, just prior to WWI is the most analogous period to right now.

  3. Why are we deep into Iraq, fighting for their “freedom,” but not in Darfur? Aren’t the people in Darfur desperately in need of liberation too? And why is there always money for weapons and machines of war but not enough to fund child health programs and section 8 rent subsidies for the poor now –not in five years– and repairing and maintaining bridges and levees? Why????
    LaBusha Nostra—Ha ha That’s funny!

  4. Because there is no oil in darfur and no strategic value to our politicians.

I remember reading Bill Clinton’s Book My Life and he said one of the biggest mistakes in his presidency was that he did not go to the aid of Rwanda when the genocide and bloodbath was taking place there.

I believe we should have been in Darfur 3 years ago………

  5. Once again, a great post, ClapSo.

    You continue to inspire us.

  6. Cris wake up , those are rhetorical questions …..right? We know when we have ‘won’ when we start selling crack in baghdad, start delivering forty ounce beers and open a few more Mcdonalds

  7. Absolutely–rhetorical.

  8. Delivering forty ounces in Baghdad.

    Sweet. That’s “Freedom” baby.

    Enjoy, dumbasses.

Americans have no idea what Freedom is, most people don’t even want Freedom because it scares the fuck out of them.

    This isn’t Freedom.

    This is bullshit.

  9. War’s always about the money. Check this out: Massive Wall Street Put Options signal coming terror attack @ http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=486300
Creepy as hell. It’s so friggin’ obvious that these despots are breaking our government, our economy, and our military to privatize everything for total dicatorship, and no one has the balls to stop them because everyone is afraid of getting whacked by their terrorist-trained thugs.

  10. Thank you all so much for your as always excellent comments. The readers here always add so much more to the debate via comments that I could never put in, even if i did a thousand posts a day!

I am sorry for the lack of posts a couple of days this week There will be a new post tomorrow and I’m hoping to have my problematic internet access fixed soon! I’m also sorry for being unable to visit my fellow bloggers sites and comment as I usually do. Please bear with me…
